Until now it was rumoured that suggested that the Android go phone from Xiaomi will be called Redmi Go. But now the phone with model number M1903C3GG and name Redmi Go has made its way to the NBTC certification site in Thailand. This was first reported by Mysmartprice website. This reveals two things, one Xiaom’s Android Go phone will indeed be called Redmi Go and second, it is coming soon.
Sadly the NBTC certification doesn’t reveal any further details about the Redmi Go phone apart from its model number. Redmi Go has been previously certified by various certification sites like EEC, IMDA, SIRIM in Malaysia. The Android Go phone was also spotted on FCC certification site last month which yet again hints at the imminent launch of the phone.
Another report that leaked earlier this week suggests that Xiaomi will be launching Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Go in the first quarter of 2019. This means that the three phones will be hitting the Indian shores by March. Xiaomi India is yet to reveal official details about its first Android Go phone’.
We believe with the Redmi Go phone Xiaomi will be looking to take on likes of other Android Go phones in India from Samsung, Nokia, among others. Considering Xiaomi’s honest pricing strategy the company could be pricing the Redmi Go phone around Rs 3,000 and offer great values for the money. None of the Android Go phones has gained success in India but with the Redmi Go phone Xiaomi could be looking to change that.
A previous report had revealed some details about the Redmi Go phone. It suggested that the Android Go phone will come with a 5.9-inch HD+ display with aspect ratio of 18:9. The Redmi Go is said to come packed with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD card.
As for the camera setup the Redmi Go phone is said to come with single sensor on both back and front. There is no information about the rear camera but on the front, the phone is expected to include a 5MP sensor. Regardless to say, the Redmi Go will come running on Android 9 Pie based on Google’s Android Go program. This means that the Redmi Go will come with streamlined apps like Google Go, Google Assistant Go, Gboard, Files Go, and Maps Go.
